How Expensive is a Taxi Ride?

Los Angeles is the third largest city in the United States, and definitely one of the most renowned cities in the world. This obviously means that it is also one of the most visited places, and what visitors definitely need to know is how to get around when they get here. The choice most people would make when arriving at LA airport is whether or not to take a taxi cab. But before they get to making that choice, they need to know how much it costs. Thankfully, it is quite easy to find a cheap Los Angeles taxi service.

Getting around in Los Angeles can be quite hard, especially for those who have never been here before. It is a very big city, and traffic can be quite hectic. And the situation is made worse by the fact that public transportation, while still being well developed technologically, is vastly underdeveloped for the needs of such a big metropolis. While bus and metro fares might be lower, the quality of their services might not be as good as one might need. If you need quick access to downtown LA from LAX, getting a taxi is much better and faster.

All passengers ride for the price of one in Los Angeles taxi cabs. For trips from LAX to downtown, fares are a $46.50 flat rate. This area is bounded by Alameda St., the Santa Monica Fwy., the Harbor Fwy., Cesar E. Chavez, Union Station and Chinatown. Other prices include a $2.85 flag drop (first 1/9th mile), $0.30 for each additional 1/9th mile ($2.70 per mile), $0.30 for each 37 seconds waiting/delay ($29.19 per hour), $4.00 surcharge for all trips originating at LAX and a $15.00 minimum fare for trips originating at LAX (In addition to the $4.00 surcharge).
